Ashlee has been waiting for her birthday and was so excited to bet an iPhone! Because we just moved here we talked about waiting and doing a big party next year for her 13th so she would know more people, but we ended up celebrating pretty big anyway.
The night before her birthday we did her birthday dinner, and she chose Applebee's. While there I had her new phone in my purse waiting for the perfect opportunity to surprise her with it. I told everyone I needed to go to the bathroom, in hopes I could snag our waitress to come help me with the surprise. She ended up on a phone order and I didn't know what to do. Just then a boy came out of the bathroom, he looked maybe 14ish, looked like a good kid that could help me out. I asked him if he'd take Ashlee her new phone and tell her she has a phone call. He thought I was crazy, but decided to play along. He walked it over to Ashlee and told her, but she wouldn't touch the phone and was giving him a weirdish look. He finally set the phone down on the table and walked away to his family. Ashlee looked at Darrell and he was grinning- and she finally understood what it was. She was so excited!
On the day of her birthday she woke up to her door being decorated, and hash browns for breakfast (her favorite). I bought cupcakes to take to her soccer practice but it was canceled because of rain. So we saved them for Wednesday night- her first night of Young Women's. They blind folded her there to welcome her into YW- and then they all enjoyed a fun activity and cupcakes.
After lots of thoughts we decided to do a party- we invited 5 girls to see a movie and come back for cake and ice cream. Everyone had fun- and it was great to let them all get to know each other better.
